Sustainable Spiwak Hotels

Global scale hospitality with a positive environmental impact

The architecture and design of the Spiwak Chipichape and Spirito Hotels are environmentally friendly. Renowned architect Joe Delgado Burckhart has enabled energy savings of 30%. Our sustainability policy includes rules regarding water usage, as well as the reuse of everyday materials, all intended to minimize the negative impact on the environment.

Energy Savings

Even though the architectural design is engineered to reduce energy use by 30 percent, we are implementing measures to further reduce our energy consumption. We have adapted motion sensors in public bathrooms, escalators, smart card readers and common areas. We minimize the unnecessary use of lights and all the suites are equipped with an LED illumination system. Additionally, we carry out awareness campaigns about saving energy.

Water Savings

Looking after our water resources is an environmental challenge acknowledged by the United Nations since 2015. We are committed to saving and protecting the quality of water by implementing effective measures. All our suites have ozonated water that is 99% germ and bacteria free so that our guests can avoid using plastic bottles. In addition, the toilets have water-saving tanks and faucets to prevent water waste.

Waste and Recycling

Equally as important as the sustainable use of resources and products is the reuse of waste. To this end, we separate recyclable waste and we adopt a policy of collecting batteries to be disposed of without the risk of environmental contamination. We also have a dressmaker-seamstress to transform and reuse towels and sheets. Lastly, all hazardous waste is treated by operators authorized by the corresponding authorities.

Suppliers

Our policies also include the choice of products and suppliers that are committed to the environment. For this reason, we use eco-friendly chemical products for the cleaning and disinfection of the different areas of the buildings. We opt for those with biodegradable or compostable packaging. Additionally, we work with local suppliers, most of whom are supporters of responsible agriculture, and we respect the fishing seasons, especially the shrimp closed season so that the species can reproduce. Spiwak Hotels participates in the Carbon Footprint project led by the DAGMA.
